“ I visited this restaurant pre-pandemic with a friend, since we both work close by. Upon walking in, you order at the counter and wait for your food, or take a seat at their tables. Besides taking your order, we barely interacted with any of the employees. The service is minimal, just like dining in at a fast food restaurant. My friend, who is vegetarian, found plenty of options to eat from their side menu. I ordered a plate of (very saucy and flavorful) wings, mac and cheese, and fries. As for the portion sizes, they're decent for what you pay! However, I would prefer if they had reusable plates, instead of packaging all of their orders in styrofoam boxes. ”
“ I work in the area and decided to try a new place. There's a lot of soul food spots in the area but I've had my eye on Mattie's for a while. Parking is a bit tricky here but doable. The atmosphere inside is nice, plenty of booths. I ordered the fried chicken dinner. I must admit I was a bit disappointed because I was expecting whole pieces of fried chicken like thighs and drumsticks as opposed to wings. They were still pretty tasty and good for the price, I just wish if I would've known it would be wings I would've gotten it with a sauce or flavor. I was in a rush so all I could do was add hot sauce at that point. The collard greens were delicious! I ate all of it. The Mac and cheese was also pretty awesome I only wish they served more of it! Overall I had a good experience and I'd come back to try something different. ”
